Cooling System Bleeding: Miata

  1. Slowly add coolant to radiator until coolant level is up to filler port.
  2. Add coolant up to FULL mark on coolant reservoir.
  3. Tighten cooling system cap on radiator.
  4. Start engine and warm it up.
  5. CAUTION: If coolant temperature becomes too high, stop engine to prevent it from overheating.
  6. After engine warms up, run it at about 2500 RPM for 5 minutes.
  7. Increase engine speed to about 3000 RPM for 5 minutes, then return to idle. Repeat several times.
  8. Stop engine and wait until it is cool.
  9. Inspect coolant level. If coolant level is low, repeat steps  16 .
  10. Inspect for coolant leakage.
