Removal (Tribute 2.0L)

WARNING: Fuel supply lines will remain pressurized for long periods of time after engine shut down. This pressure must be relieved before disconnecting any fuel lines or fuel system components to prevent possible injury. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE  under FUEL SYSTEM. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
  1. Remove fuel rail and Injectors. See FUEL RAILS & INJECTORS  under FUEL SYSTEM.
  2. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor harness connector. See Fig 1.
  3. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) harness connector and unclip the harness from the bracket. See Fig 2.
  4. Disconnect the main engine control sensor wiring. See Fig 3. Remove the connector from the mounting bracket.
  5. Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) wire harness from the bracket. See Fig 4.
  6. Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) wiring harness from the bracket. See Fig 5.
  7. Remove the HO2S wiring harness retainer. See Fig 6.
  8. Disconnect the Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor harness connector. See Fig 7.
  9. Detach the CHT sensor wiring harness from the clip, and remove the clip. See Fig 8.
  10. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum supply hose. See Fig 9.
  11. Disconnect the 4 vacuum hoses. See Fig 10.
  12. Disconnect the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) vacuum hose. See Fig 11.
  13. Remove the alternator. See ALTERNATOR in appropriate CHARGING SYSTEM article in ELECTRICAL.
  14. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve bolts. See Fig 12.
    15. NOTE: Illustration shown with throttle body removed for clarity.
  15. Remove the intake manifold. Remove the 2 nuts and 5 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration. See Fig 13.
