MAZDA6 (2.3L)

  1. Remove right front wheel.
  2. Remove splash shield.
  3. Disconnect CKP sensor harness connector.
  4. Remove CKP sensor.
  5. Remove right driveshaft.
  6. Remove cylinder block lower blind plug and install Crankshaft TDC Timing Peg (303-507). See Figure and Figure .
  7. Turn crankshaft pulley clockwise until it stops.
  8. Using straight edge, draw a straight line in center of ninth tooth of crankshaft pulley pulse wheel (counting counterclockwise from empty space).
  9. Align center line of CKP sensor and line drawn in step  8 , then install CKP sensor with mounting bolts.
  10. Reconnect CKP sensor harness connector.
  11. Remove crankshaft TDC timing peg.
  12. Install cylinder block lower blind plug.
  13. Install right driveshaft.
  14. Install right splash shield.
  15. Install right front wheel.
