Diagnostic Procedure

ENGINE STALLS WHEN SHIFTED TO D, 2,1 RANGES, AND/OR IN R POSITION - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	Go to symptom troubleshooting No. 4 "ENGINE STALLS" (See DTC TABLE [BP, BP WITH TC] ) Is engine control system okay?	Yes	Go to next step.
1		No	Repair or replace any defective parts according to inspection results.
2	Inspect TCM terminal AO voltage. (See TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) INSPECTION ) Is terminal voltage okay?	Yes	Inspect if TCC solenoid valve is stuck mechanically. (See SOLENOID VALVES INSPECTION . ) If okay, go to next step.
2		No	Inspect for intermittent short to power circuit between TCC terminal AO and TCC solenoid valve terminal.
3	Inspect oil cooler line pipes for bending, damage or kinks. If okay, overhaul control valve body and repair or replace any defective parts. Is problem eliminated?	Yes	AT is now normal.
3		No	Replace torque converter. If problem remains, replace or overhaul transmission and repair or replace any defective parts.
4	Verify test results. If okay, return to diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. If malfunction remains, inspect related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis. If vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting completed. If vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace TCM.
