TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS - DESCRIPTION & POSSIBLE CAUSE

22	Transmission overheats
DESCRIPTION	Burnt smell is emitted from transmission. Smoke is emitted from transmission.
POSSIBLE CAUSE	The malfunction is restricted to hindrance of coolant at the oil cooler. Line pressure is low ATF level is low Throttle position sensor malfunction Mis-adjustment of throttle cable Oil cooler malfunction (Foreign material mixed in with ATF) Excessive amount of ATF NOTE: Before following the troubleshooting steps, make sure that the on-board diagnosis and basic inspection have been conducted.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

The malfunction is restricted to hindrance of coolant at the oil cooler.
1. Line pressure is low
  - ATF level is low
  - Throttle position sensor malfunction
  - Mis-adjustment of throttle cable
2. Oil cooler malfunction (Foreign material mixed in with ATF)
3. Excessive amount of ATF
