DTC 37: Right Side Air Bag Module

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect right side air bag module connector, located under right front seat. Inspect connector and pins for damage or defect. If connector and pins are okay, go to next step. If connector and pins are not okay, replace air bag wiring harness and go to step 4.
- Connect leads of Fuel and Thermometer Checker (49 0839 285) to right side air bag module connector, terminals "A" and "B". See Figure. Set resistance of checker to 2 ohms. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on and check for DTCs. If DTC 37 is displayed, go to next step. If DTC 37 is not displayed, replace right side air bag module and go to step 4. See SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Access right side air bag sensor and disconnect connector. See SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for short to ground, power or open circuit between right side air bag sensor connector, terminal "O" and right side air bag module connector, terminal "A". Check for short to ground, power or open circuit between right side air bag sensor connector, terminal "M" and right side air bag module connector, terminal "B". If wiring harness is okay, replace right side air bag sensor and go to next step. If wiring harness is not okay, replace air bag wiring harness between right side air bag sensor and right side air bag module and go to next step. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Reinstall all components and reconnect all connectors. Activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
