DTC 26: Left Side Air Bag Module

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect left side air bag module connector, located under left front seat. Inspect connector and pins for damage or defect. If connector and pins are okay, go to next step. If connector and pins are not okay, replace air bag wiring harness and go to step 4.
- Connect leads of Fuel and Thermometer Checker (49 0839 285) to left side air bag module connector, terminals "A" and "B". See Figure. Set resistance of checker to 2 ohms. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on and check for DTCs. If DTC 26 is displayed, go to next step. If DTC 26 is not displayed, replace left side air bag module and go to step 4. See SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Access left side air bag sensor and disconnect connector. See SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for short to ground, power or open circuit between left side air bag sensor connector, terminal "O" and left side air bag module connector, terminal "A". Check for short to ground, power or open circuit between left side air bag sensor connector, terminal "M" and left side air bag module connector, terminal "B". If wiring harness is okay, replace left side air bag sensor and go to next step. If wiring harness is not okay, replace air bag wiring harness between left side air bag sensor and left side air bag module and go to next step. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Reinstall all components and reconnect all connectors. Activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
