DTC 25: SAS Control Unit-To-Left Side Air Bag Sensor Malfunction

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Remove steering column covers. Disconnect lower clockspring connectors. See Figure. Remove glove box. Disconnect passenger-side air bag module connector. See Figure. Access SAS control unit and disconnect connector. See SAS CONTROL UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect left side air bag module connector, located under left front seat. Access left side air bag sensor and disconnect connector and go to next step. See SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Reconnect negative battery cable and turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and left side air bag sensor connector, terminals "V" and "Y". See Figure. If voltage is not approximately 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is approximately 5 volts, replace left side air bag sensor and go to step 4.
- Measure voltage between ground and left side air bag sensor connector, terminals "Z" and "AB". See Figure. If voltage is below 8 volts, repair or replace wire harness as necessary between battery and left side air bag sensor. Check battery and charging system for malfunctions and repair as necessary. Go to next step. If voltage is above 8 volts, replace left side air bag sensor and go to next step. See SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Reinstall all components and reconnect all connectors. Activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
