DTC 24 - Water Temperature Signal

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE - DTC 24

STEP INSPECTION INDICATION (Reference) ACTION
1
  • Using WDS or equivalent, verify whether any/both of the following DTCs for PCM are indicated.
    • P0117
    • P0118
Yes - Go to applicable DTC inspection.
No - Go to next step.

  • Start engine and idle it.
  • Using WDS or equivalent, check coolant temperature.
  • Check instrument cluster indication when coolant temperature is 50 °C {122 °F}  .
209 Go to Step 4.
Other than stated above. Go to next step.
3 Using oscilloscope, verify wave pattern at instrument cluster terminal 2E when coolant temperature is 50 °C {122 °F}  . Refer to Figure 1 in Fig 2 Replace instrument cluster.
Other than stated above. Replace PCM.
4 Check instrument cluster indication when coolant temperature is 70 °C {158 °F}  . 152 Go to Step 6.
Other than stated above. Go to next step
5 Using oscilloscope, verify wave pattern at instrument cluster terminal 2E when coolant temperature is 70 °C {158 °F}  . Refer to Figure 2 in Fig 2 Replace instrument cluster.
Other than stated above. Replace PCM.
6 Check instrument cluster indication when coolant temperature is 90 °C {194 °F}  . 092 Input signal to instrument cluster is okay
Other than stated above. Go to next step.
7 Using oscilloscope, verify wave pattern at instrument cluster terminal 2E when coolant temperature is 90 °C {194 °F}  . Refer to Figure 3 in Fig 2 Replace instrument cluster.
Other than stated above. Replace PCM.
