Diagnostic procedure

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE - DTC 3

STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 INSPECT BATTERY 
  • Measure voltage of battery.
  • Is voltage more than 9 V  ?
 Yes Go to the next step.
No Battery is weak. Inspect charge/discharge system. (See BATTERY INSPECTION )
2 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN BATTERY AND FUSE BLOCK 
  • Remove driver-side front scuff plate.
  • Remove driver-side front side trim.
  • Remove fuse block without disconnecting connectors.
  • Turn ignition switch to ON position.
  • Measure voltage at fuse block connector terminal B (JB-09) and terminal P (JB-08).
  • Is voltage of at least either terminal more than 9 V  ?
 Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair wiring harnesses.
3 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN FUSE BLOCK AND SAS CONTROL MODULE 
WARNING:
  • Handling air bag system components improperly can accidentally deploy air bag modules and pre-tensioner seat belts, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling air bag system components.

  • Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
  • Disconnect negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. 
  • Remove column cover.
  • Disconnect clock spring connector.
  • Remove glove compartment.
  • Disconnect passenger-side air bag module connector.
  • Disconnect driver- and passenger-side side air bag module connectors. (Vehicles with side air bag)
  • Remove driver- and passenger-side B-pillar lower trims.
  • Disconnect driver- and passenger-side pre-tensioner seat belt connectors.
  • Turn up floor covering.
  • Disconnect all SAS control module connectors.
  • Connect negative battery cable.
  • Turn ignition switch to ON position.
  • Measure voltage at SAS control module terminals 2E and 2H.
  • Is voltage of at least either terminal more than 9 V  ?
 Yes Present malfunction diagnosis: 
Past malfunction diagnosis: 
  • Troubleshooting completed.
No Replace wiring harnesses.
