Diagnostic procedure

LOW MAXIMUM SPEED AND POOR ACCELERATION - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	With ignition switch at ON, does O/D OFF indicator light indication correspond to O/D OFF switch operation?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Go to symptom troubleshooting NO.26 O/D OFF INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN O/D OFF SWITCH IS TURNED ON , or NO.27 O/D OFF INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHEN O/D OFF SWITCH IS NOT TURNED ON .
2	Go to symptom troubleshooting No. 12 "Lack/loss of power-acceleration/cruise". (See NO.12 LACK/LOSS OF POWER-ACCELERATION/CRUISE ) Does engine control system okay?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to inspection results.
3	Stop engine. Inspect shift solenoid A, B, or C. Are they okay?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Inspect for stuck shift solenoid. (See SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION .) If shift solenoid is normal, inspect for open or short circuit between TCM terminals 2W, 2T, 2X and pressure control solenoid terminals I, G, or F.
4	Remove torque converter. Inspect torque converter. (See appropriate Automatic Transmission article.) Is torque converter okay?	Yes	Overhaul control valve body and repair or replace any malfunctioning parts. (See appropriate Automatic Transmission article.) If problem remains, replace or overhaul transaxle and repair or replace any malfunctioning parts. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) (See appropriate Automatic Transmission article.)
4		No	Replace torque converter.
5	Verify test results. If okay, return to DIAGNOSTIC INDEX to service any additional symptoms. If malfunction remains, inspect related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis. If vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting completed. If vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information not available, replace TCM.
