Oil Cooler Hoses & Pipes: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install oil cooler (5). See Figure and Figure . Install radiator (4). Tighten bolts and screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Apply compressed air to cooler-side opening, and blow any remaining grime and foreign material from the cooler pipes. See Fig 1 . Compressed air should be applied for no less than one minute. Install oil cooler pipes (3). Tighten bolts and screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Align the marks on oil cooler hoses and oil cooler lines and install oil cooler hoses (2). See Fig 2 . Slide the oil hose onto the oil pipe until it is fully seated. Install oil cooler hose clamps (1). If reusing the hose, install the new hose clamp exactly on the mark left by the previous hose clamp. Verify that the hose clamps do not interfere with any other components.
  4. Install the inner fender mud guard. Install the splash shield. Install the front bumper. See FRONT BUMPER  . Install the radiator grille. Install the air cleaner assembly. See Figure .
  5. Install the battery, battery tray, and battery tray bracket. See Figure . Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Fill the transaxle with appropriate fluid to proper level. See DRAINING & REFILLING  under LUBRICATION. Fill the engine with coolant to proper level. See BLEEDING COOLING SYSTEM in 2.5L V6 article in ENGINES. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Inspect for oil leakage from the oil cooler pipes and oil cooler hoses. Inspect for coolant leaks from the hoses. Carry out the hydraulic pressure tests, then perform road test. See PERFORMANCE TESTS in JA5A-EL DIAGNOSIS article. Fill the transaxle with appropriate fluid to proper level and check for correct transaxle operation. See LUBRICATION  .
