No Torque Converter Clutch

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

TCC does not operate when fail-safe is operating. Check if any DTCs are present. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM . If TCC operates when driving at high speeds only, the fault (improper adjustment) is in O/D OFF switch circuit or TR switch circuit. Inspect if TCC or piston is stuck. Inspect oil cooler for foreign particles which may have mixed in with the ATF. Other possible causes: TCC piston slipping or burned, line pressure low, incorrect throttle position signal, input/turbine speed sensor fault, TFT sensor fault, sensor ground fault, VSS, faulty output solenoid, control valve system (sticking), TCC solenoid valve fault, TCC piston, hydraulic pressure system fault, faulty TP sensor (not operating linearly), faulty input/turbine speed sensor or VSS.
