Either engine output is low or there is clutch circuit slippage. Possible cause: clutch burned, line pressure low, faulty shift solenoid "A", "B" or "C", faulty body ground, faulty control valve body, transaxle fixed in 4th gear (operation of fail-safe function), short or open circuit in wiring, poor connections, output and input system fault, faulty torque converter.
