Transaxle Fluid Temperature Sensor
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Transaxle fluid temperature sensor is mounted internally in transaxle. Information for replacement of sensor is not available from manufacturer.
Remove dipstick from transaxle and install thermistor probe into filler tube. Disconnect transaxle connector No. 2 (8-pin). See Figure. Start engine and allow it to idle. Measure resistance between terminals "G" and "H" on transaxle side of connector No. 2. Resistance should decrease as fluid temperature rises. See TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE table. If TFT sensor resistance is not within specification, replace sensor.
