Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTE: Before retrieving DTCs, ensure proper battery voltage exists for self-diagnostic system operation. If any DTCs are present other than those listed below, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.

Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Connect scan tool to DLC located under left side of instrument panel. See Fig 1. Turn ignition on. Check for stored DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . For trouble shooting of DTCs, see DIAGNOSTIC TESTS .

NOTE: Once repairs have been performed, DTCs must be cleared from PCM memory and vehicle test driven. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES .
