"D" Position Test

  1. Inspect engine coolant, oil, ATF levels, ignition timing and idle speed. Check for shift shock, positive shifts and shifting through all positions. Ensure kickdown occurs within kickdown limits. See SHIFT SPEED SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Shift gearshift lever to "D" position. Accelerate vehicle at half throttle and WOT. Ensure upshifts and downshifts are obtained at shift points indicated. See SHIFT SPEED SPECIFICATIONS . Drive vehicle in 4th, 3rd and 2nd gears to verify kickdown occurs at shift points indicated.
  3. Decelerate vehicle and verify engine braking effect is felt in 4th and 3rd gears. Drive vehicle to verify TCC operation is obtained at operation points indicated. See SHIFT SPEED SPECIFICATIONS . Select HOLD mode. Accelerate vehicle to half and WOT, and verify upshifts and downshifts are obtained at shift points indicated.
