Solenoid Valve Body Assembly
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda 626 and 2001 Mazda 626. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Solenoid valve body assembly contains EPC solenoid, Shift Solenoid No. 1 (SS1), Shift Solenoid No. 2 (SS2), 3-2 timing/coast clutch (3-2T/CCS) solenoid and Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid. See Fig 1.
- When shift solenoid is always off, failure could be due to the PCM and/or vehicle wiring malfunction, and/or solenoid electrically, hydraulically or mechanically stuck off. For shift solenoid symptoms, refer to illustrations. See Fig 2 and Fig 3 .
- When shift solenoid is always on, failure could be due to the PCM and/or vehicle wiring malfunction, and/or solenoid electrically, hydraulically or mechanically stuck on. For shift solenoid symptoms, refer to illustrations. See Fig 4 and Fig 5 .
- When TCC solenoid fails in ON position, engine performance is poor at low speed, engine may stall in 2nd gear with gearshift lever in "2" position and shifting is harsh. When TCC solenoid fails in OFF position, vehicle will have poor fuel economy, engine overheating and TCC will not engage. Shift feel will be firm.
