Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTE: Before retrieving DTCs, ensure battery voltage exists for self-diagnostic system operation. If any DTC is present other than those listed below, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.

Ensure ignition is in OFF position. Connect scan tool to DLC located under left side of instrument panel. See Fig 1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check for stored DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . For trouble shooting of DTCs, see DIAGNOSTIC TESTS .

NOTE: Once repairs have been performed, DTC must be cleared from PCM memory and vehicle test driven. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES .
