Diagnostic Procedure

- Record FREEZE FRAME PID data. Check for related service bulletins. Repair as necessary. Ensure all appropriate connections are clean and tight. Repair as necessary. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, access TFT V PID from PID/DATA MONITOR & RECORD menu. If TFT V PID is 3.4-3.6 volts, leave scan tool connected to DLC and in PID mode, and go to next step. If TFT V PID is not 3.4-3.6 volts, check connectors, terminals and wiring harnesses for intermittent concern.
- Start engine. Road test vehicle at 37 MPH or more for more than 7 minutes. Using scan tool, monitor TFT and TFT V PID. When TFT PID value is 68°F (20°C), TFT V PID value should be 3.4-3.6 volts. When TFT PID value is 266°F (130°C), TFT V PID value should be 0.4-0.5 volt. If TFT V PID value does not change as specified, disconnect transaxle 10-pin connector and check connector for corrosion. Repair as necessary. If TFT V PID value changes as specified, check connectors, terminals and wiring harnesses for intermittent concern.
- Ensure engine coolant temperature has decreased to 68°F (20°C) or less. Start engine and allow it to idle. Using scan tool, access VSS PID from PID/DATA MONITOR & RECORD menu. Road test vehicle with VSS PID value at 37 MPH for more than 7 minutes. Go to next step.
- Bring vehicle to a gradual stop. Perform self-test on PCM and ensure serviced DTC does not repeat. If serviced DTC resets, repeat previous step. If serviced DTC resets again, replace PCM.
