Pressure Control Solenoid
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda 626 and 2001 Mazda 626. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Pressure control solenoid is an on/off type solenoid located on transaxle valve body which is operated by PCM. Pressure control solenoid regulates line pressure based on duty cycle signals received from PCM. PCM adjusts line pressure to match driving conditions. To reduce shift shock during shifting, line pressure characteristics are set to match engine driving force during shifting. Line pressure is also adjusted for ATF temperature, high engine torque and engine braking.
