Resistance Inspection
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda 626 and 2001 Mazda 626. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Disconnect the battery negative cable. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between throttle position sensor terminal "A" (Black/Yellow wire) and "B" (Gray/Red wire). Resistance should be 2500-5000 ohms. If not as specified, replace the throttle position sensor. Reconnect the throttle position sensor connector.
