Solenoid "Click" Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda 626 and 2001 Mazda 626. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect transaxle 10-pin connector. See Fig 1. Note that solenoids ground through transaxle case. Ensure transaxle case is grounded. Perform "click" test on each solenoid, one at a time. Connect a jumper wire between battery voltage and transaxle 10-pin connector terminals "A", "B", "C", "D", "E" and "G". See Fig 1. An audible "click" should be heard from each solenoid. If all solenoids click when actuated, solenoids are okay. If any solenoid does not click when actuated, replace faulty solenoid.
