Test H: Solenoid Mechanical Failure

NOTE: After each service or repair procedure has been completed, reconnect all components. Clear DTCs and repeat QUICK TEST. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST)  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Ensure all EEC-V systems are working properly and DTCs are no longer present.
  1. Ensure transaxle harness connector is fully seated. Ensure gearshift lever is in "P" position. Connect NGS tester or equivalent to DLC. Perform KEY ON ENGINE OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST  until continuous memory codes have been displayed. Confirm DTCs P1714 and/or P1715 are still present. If any DTCs for shift solenoids or TFT sensor are present, repair those DTCs first. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Perform TRANSAXLE DRIVE CYCLE TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Repeat QUICK TEST. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST)  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no other DTCs are present, replace faulty transmission control solenoid body assembly. See appropriate AUTOMATIC article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING. Go to next step.
  2. Perform TRANSAXLE DRIVE CYCLE TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If transaxle upshifts and downshifts correctly, go to next step. If transaxle does not upshift or downshift correctly, see appropriate SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS under TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
  3. Ensure gearshift lever is in "P" position. Connect NGS tester or equivalent to DLC. Perform KEY ON ENGINE OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST  until continuous memory codes have been displayed. If DTCs P1714 and/or P1715 are still present, replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Repeat QUICK TEST. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST)  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Perform TRANSAXLE DRIVE CYCLE TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTCs P1714 and/or P1715 are not present, test is complete. If concern still exists, see appropriate SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS under TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
