Solenoid Valve Body Assembly
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Escape, 2001 Mazda Tribute, and 2001 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Shift solenoids SSA and SSB may also be known as SS1 and SS2. The 3-2 timing/coast clutch solenoid may also be known as shift solenoid SS3 or SSC.
- The solenoid valve body assembly contains Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) solenoid, Shift Solenoid "A" (SSA), Shift Solenoid "B" (SSB), 3-2 Timing/Coast Clutch solenoid (3-2T/CCS) and Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid. The shift solenoids are used for electronic shift scheduling. See Fig 1 .
- When shift solenoid is always off, failure could be due to the PCM and/or vehicle wiring malfunction, and/or solenoid stuck in on position electrically, hydraulically or mechanically. For shift symptoms, see Fig 2 and Fig 3 .
