Diagnostic procedure

DTC P0443 [AJ] DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Record FREEZE FRAME DATA on repair order, then go to the next step.
2	VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY Check for related Service bulletins and/or online repair information availability. Is any repair information available?	Yes	Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information. If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	CLASSIFY INTERMITTENT CONCERN OR CONTINUOUS CONCERN Turn ignition switch to OFF, then start engine. Is same DTC present?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Intermittent concern exists. Go to "INTERMITTENT CONCERNS TROUBLESHOOTING". (See INTERMITTENT CONCERN TROUBLESHOOTING .)
4	CLASSIFY OPEN CIRCUIT OR SHORT TO GND MALFUNCTION Disconnect purge solenoid valve tube that is connected to intake manifold. Connect vacuum pump to purge solenoid valve. Pump vacuum pump several times and stop. Wait a few seconds. Is vacuum maintained?	Yes	Go to Step 6.
4		No	Go to the next step.
5	INSPECT PASSAGE CONTROL OF PURGE SOLENOID VALVE Turn the ignition switch off. Disconnect purge solenoid valve connector. Pump vacuum pump several times and wait a few seconds. Is vacuum maintained?	Yes	Repair or replace the following harness for short to GND, then go to Step 12. Purge solenoid valve terminal B to PCM terminal 85
5		No	Replace purge solenoid valve, then go to Step 12.
6	INSPECT PURGE SOLENOID VALVE CONNECTOR FOR POOR CONNECTION Turn the ignition switch off. Disconnect purge solenoid valve connector. Check for poor connection (such as damaged, pulled-out pins, and corrosion). Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the terminal, then go to Step 12.
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	INSPECT PURGE SOLENOID VALVE POWER CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT Turn the ignition switch off. Measure voltage between purge solenoid valve terminal A (harness-side) and body GND. Is voltage B+?	Yes	Go to the next step.
7		No	Repair or replace harness for open circuit, then go to Step 12.
8	INSPECT PURGE SOLENOID VALVE CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER Turn the ignition switch off. Measure voltage between purge solenoid valve terminal B (harness-side) and body GND. Is voltage reading?	Yes	Repair or replace harness for short to power, then go to Step 12.
8		No	Go to the next step.
9	INSPECT PURGE SOLENOID VALVE Inspect purge solenoid valve. (See PURGE SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION .) Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Replace purge solenoid valve, then go to Step 12.
9		No	Go to the next step.
10	INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR FOR POOR CONNECTION Turn the ignition switch off. Disconnect PCM connector. Check for poor connection (such as damaged, pulled-out pins, and corrosion). Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the terminal, then go to Step 12.
10		No	Go to the next step.
11	INSPECT PURGE SOLENOID VALVE CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT Turn the ignition switch off. Check continuity between purge solenoid valve terminal B (harness-side) and PCM terminal 85 (harness-side). Is there continuity?	Yes	Go to the next step.
11		No	Repair or replace harness for open circuit, then go to the next step.
12	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0443 COMPLETED Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors. Turn ignition switch to OFF, then start engine. Is same DTC present?	Yes	Replace PCM, then go to the next step. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
12		No	Go to the next step.
13	VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE Perform "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE". (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE .) Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE .)
13		No	Troubleshooting completed.
