Vehicles with side air bag

WARNING:
- Inspect the mounting surfaces of the side air bag module and the seat back frame mounting for any foreign objects before installing the side air bag module. If any foreign objects are found, remove them. Failure to do so may result in personal injury in the event of an air bag deployment.
WARNING:
- Inspect the side air bag cavity in the seat back pad for any foreign objects. If any foreign objects are found, remove them. Failure to do so may result in personal injury in the event of an air bag deployment.
WARNING:
- Before installing the side air bag module, check the air bag for damage and foreign objects. If any foreign objects are found, remove them. Failure to do so may result in personal injury in the event of an air bag deployment.
- Install the side air bag module.
- Install the side air bag module.
- Install the nuts.
All Vehicles
- Install the front backrest rest pad to the front backrest frame.
- Install the front seat backrest trim cover.
- Connect the front seat backrest J-retainer.
- If equipped, install the headrest guides and headrest.
- Install the front seat backrest.
- Install the backrest.
- Install the pivot nut.
- Install the front seat backrest bolts, if equipped with heated seats, connect the backrest heated grid electrical connector.
- Install the inboard seat cushion side shield.
- Install the outboard seat cushion side shield.
- Install the shield, if equipped with heated seats, connect the electrical connector.
- Install the screw.
- Install the seat backrest handle.
CAUTION:
- Use care when handling the seat and track assembly. Dropping the assembly or sitting on a seat not secured in the vehicle may result in damaged components.
- Install the passenger seat.
- Install the passenger seat, if equipped with heated seats, connect the electrical connector.
- Install the seat track to floor bolts.
- Position the passenger seat forward.
- Install the seat track to floor nuts.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT

- Remove the special tool from the passenger seat side air bag module body harness electrical connector.
- Connect the passenger seat side air bag module electrical connector.

- Remove the special tool from the passenger seat safety belt pretensioner body harness electrical connector.
- Connect the passenger seat safety belt pretensioner electrical connector.
- Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT .
- With the remaining special tools still in place, prove out the air bag system. For additional information, refer to SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT

- Remove the special tool from the driver seat safety belt pretensioner body harness electrical connector.
- Connect the driver seat safety belt pretensioner electrical connector.

- Remove the special tool from the driver seat side air bag module body harness electrical connector.
- Connect the driver seat side air bag module electrical connector.

- Remove the special tool from the steering column harness side of the driver air bag module electrical connector.
- Connect the driver air bag module electrical connector.

- Remove the special tool to the instrument panel harness side of the passenger air bag module electrical connector.
- Connect the passenger air bag module electrical connector.
- Raise the glove compartment.
- Depress the locking tabs.
- Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT .
- Prove out the air bag system. For additional information, refer to SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
- Check the restraint system for correct operation.
