Drive Axle Shafts: Reassembly

- Thoroughly clean all components in solvent. Lubricate outboard CV joint with high temperature constant velocity joint grease. Install outboard boot, and NEW axle shaft bearing retainer clip. Use soft-face hammer to install outboard CV joint.
- Remove any excess grease on mating surfaces, and slide outboard axle shaft joint boot forward onto outboard CV joint. After adjusting boot spacing, remove any excess air with a cloth covered screwdriver. Using CV Boot Clamp installer (205-343), crimp 2 NEW boot clamps onto CV joint boot.
- Install inboard CV joint boot onto axle shaft. Install tripod joint onto axle shaft. If reusing original tripod joint, line up reference marks on axle shaft and tripod joint.
- Install snap ring into groove on axle shaft. Lubricate tripod joints needle bearings, using high temperature constant velocity joint grease. Fill tripod joint housing with high temperature constant velocity joint grease. Install tripod joint housing onto tripod joint.
- Remove any excess grease on mating surfaces, and slide inboard axle shaft joint boot forward onto inboard CV joint. After adjusting boot spacing, remove any excess air with a cloth covered screwdriver. Using CV boot clamp installer, crimp 2 NEW boot clamps onto CV joint boot.
