Purge Solenoid Valve
Disconnect purge solenoid valve harness connector and vacuum hoses. Purge solenoid valve is located by throttle body. See Figure . Ensure air does not flow through purge solenoid valve vacuum ports. Using fused jumper wires. Connect battery voltage to solenoid terminals. Air should pass through valve. If purge solenoid valve does not operate as specified, replace purge solenoid valve. If purge solenoid valve operates as specified, check for open or short circuit. Disconnect PCM harness connector and install 104-Pin Breakout Box (49-UN01-130) in between PCM and PCM harness connector. See Figure . Check for open circuit between following terminals:
- Purge solenoid valve harness connector terminal "B" and PCM terminal No. 18 (Green/Black wire).
- Purge solenoid valve harness connector terminal "A" (White/Red wire) and main relay harness connector terminal "D" (Yellow wire).
Check for short circuit between following:
- Ground and purge solenoid valve harness connector terminal "B" (Green/Black wire).
- Power and purge solenoid valve harness connector terminal "A" (White/Red wire).
Repair or replace wiring harness as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
