Fuel Shut-Off Valve (626)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2002 Mazda Protege5, 2002 Mazda Protege, 2002 Mazda Millenia, 2002 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and 2002 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Fuel shut-off valve is an integral part of fuel tank. If fuel shut-off valve malfunctions, replace fuel tank.

  1. Remove fuel tank. Connect SST 49-U014-001 to an air compressor and fuel tank port "A". Plug fuel pump ports and port "B" on fuel tank. See Fig 1 .
  2. Ensure there is airflow from shut-off valve port "C" when 0.99 kPa pressure is applied. If airflow is not detected, replace fuel tank.
  3. Remove plug from fuel shut-off valve port "B" and install on port "C". Ensure there is airflow from port "B" when 0.99 kPa pressure is applied. If airflow is not detected, replace fuel tank.
  4. Turn fuel tank upside down. Ensure there is no airflow from fuel shut-off valve port "B" when 0.99 kPa pressure is applied. If airflow is present, replace fuel tank.
  5. Remove plug from shut-off valve port "C" and install on port "B". Ensure there is no airflow from fuel shut-off valve port "C" when 0.99 kPa pressure is applied. If airflow is present, replace fuel tank.
