Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs during KOEO or KOER self-test. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P1124 is present, go to next step. If DTC P1124 is not present, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  2. Using scan tool, check for DTCs during KOEO or KOER self-test. If DTC P0122 or P0123 is present, repair that problem first. See DTC P0122: THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR, LOW INPUT  or DTC P0123: THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR, HIGH INPUT  . If DTC P0122 or P0123 is not present, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check TP V PID data. If TP V PID is 1.27-4.28 volts, go to next step. If TP V PID is not 1.27-4.28 volts, adjust TP sensor. See ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article. If after adjustment problem still persists, replace TP sensor and go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition on. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs during KOEO or KOER self-test. If DTC P1124 is present, replace PCM and go to next step. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. On vehicles equipped with immobilizer system, reprogram ignition key identification numbers. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES - IMPORT article in GENERAL INFORMATION. If DTC P1124 is not present, go to next step.
  5. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If any other DTC is present, go to appropriate test.
