Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs during KOEO and KOER self-test. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0452 is present, go to next step. If DTC P0452 is not present, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect FTP sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select FTP V PID data. If FTP V PID voltage is more than 4.8 volts, go to next step. If FTP V PID voltage is 4.8 volts or less, go to step  5 .
  3. NOTE: If DTC P0107 and P0122 are also present, check reference voltage. See REFERENCE VOLTAGE TEST  .
  4. Measure voltage between FTP sensor harness connector terminal "C" (Gray/Red wire) and ground. If 4.5-5.5 volts is present, check for poor FTP sensor connector connection. Repair as necessary. If connector connection is okay, replace FTP and go to step  7 . If 4.5-5.5 volts is not present, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect in-line 16-pin connector located at back of joint box. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between in-line 16-pin male connector terminal "E" (Gray/Red wire) and ground. See Fig 2 . If 4.5-5.5 volts is present, repair open in Gray/Red wire between in-line 16-pin male connector terminal "E" and FTP sensor harness connector terminal "C". See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step  7 . If 4.5-5.5 volts is not present, repair open in Gray/Red wire between in-line 16-pin male connector terminal "E" and PCM harness connector terminal No. 90. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step  7 .
  6. Turn ignition off. Check for continuity between in-line 16-pin female connector terminal "C" (Pink/Green wire) and ground. See Fig 2 . If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short to ground in Pink/Green wire between in-line 16-pin female connector and FTP sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step  7 .
  7. Turn ignition off. Check for continuity between in-line 16-pin male connector terminal "C" (Pink/Green wire) and ground. See Fig 2 . If continuity is not present, check for short between ground circuits and Pink/Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short to ground in Pink/Green wire between in-line 16-pin male connector and PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to next step.
  8. Reconnect all connections. Turn ignition on. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs during KOEO and KOER self-test. If DTC P0452 is present, replace PCM and go to next step. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. On vehicles equipped with immobilizer system, reprogram ignition key identification numbers. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES - IMPORT article in GENERAL INFORMATION. If DTC P0452 is not present, go to next step.
  9. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If any other DTC is present, go to appropriate test.
