Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

- Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs during KOEO and KOER self-test. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0122 is present, go to next step. If DTC P0122 is not present, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect TP sensor connector. Check for damaged or corroded sensor connector terminals. Repair as necessary, and go to step 12 . If connector terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between TP sensor harness connector terminal "B" (Gray/Red wire) and terminal "C" (Violet/Yellow wire). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool check TP V PID data. If TP V PID data is 4.5-5.5 volts, go to next step. If TP V PID data is not 4.5-5.5 volts, go to step 5 .
- Turn ignition off and remove fused jumper wire. Check TP sensor operation. See SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - MIATA, MILLENIA, MPV, PROTEGE, PROTEGE5 & 626 article. Replace as necessary and go to step 12 . If TP sensor is okay, go to step 12 .
- Turn ignition off and remove fused jumper wire. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and TP sensor harness connector terminal "B" (Gray/Red wire). If 4.5-5.5 volts are present, go to step 8 . If 4.5-5.5 volts are not present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connector. Check for damaged or corroded PCM connector terminals. Repair as necessary, and go to step 12 . If connector terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Check for continuity of Gray/Red wire between TP sensor harness connector terminal "B" and PCM harness connector terminal No. 90. See Figure . If continuity is present, go to step 12 . If continuity is not present, repair open in Gray/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step 12 .
- Check for continuity between ground and TP sensor harness connector terminal "C" (Violet/Yellow wire). If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short to ground in Violet/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step 12 .
- Check for continuity between TP sensor harness connector terminals "C" (Violet/Yellow wire) and "A" (Black/Yellow wire). If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short between circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step 12 .
- Disconnect PCM connector. Check for damaged or corroded PCM connector terminals. Repair as necessary, and go to step 12 . If connector terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Check for continuity of Violet/Yellow wire between TP sensor harness connector terminal "C" and PCM harness connector terminal No. 89. See Figure . If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair open in Violet/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to next step.
- Reconnect all connections. Turn ignition on. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Perform KOEO and KOER self-test. If DTC P0122 is present, replace PCM and go to next step. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. On vehicles equipped with immobilizer system, reprogram ignition key identification numbers. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES - IMPORT article in GENERAL INFORMATION. If DTC P0122 is not present, go to next step.
- Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If any other DTC is present, go to appropriate test.
NOTE:
If DTC P0107 and P0452 are also present, check reference voltage. See REFERENCE VOLTAGE TEST
