Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs during KOEO and KOER self-test. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0113 is present, go to next step. If DTC P0113 is not present, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  2. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0118 is present, repair that DTC first. If DTC P0118 is not present, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAT sensor connector. Check for damaged or corroded IAT sensor connector terminals. Repair as necessary, and go to step  10 . If connector terminals are okay, go to next step.
  4. Measure resistance between IAT sensor connector terminals. If resistance is 16 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 16 k/ohms, replace IAT sensor and go to step  10 .
  5. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and IAT sensor harness connector terminal "A" (Green/White wire). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, repair short to power in Green/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step  10 .
  6. Measure voltage between ground and IAT sensor harness connector terminal "B" (Black/Yellow wire). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, repair short to power in Black/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step  10 .
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connector. Check for damaged or corroded PCM connector terminals. Repair as necessary, and go to step  10 . If connector terminals are okay, go to next step.
  8. Check for continuity of Green/White wire between IAT sensor harness connector terminal "A" and PCM harness connector terminal No. 39. See Figure . If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair open in Green/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step  10 .
  9. Check for continuity of Black/Yellow wire between IAT sensor harness connector terminal "B" and ground. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair open in Green/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to next step.
  10. Reconnect all connections. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Perform KOEO/KOER self-test. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0113 is present, replace PCM and go to next step. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. On vehicles equipped with immobilizer system, reprogram ignition key identification numbers. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES - IMPORT article in GENERAL INFORMATION. If DTC P0113 is not present, go to next step.
  11. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If any other DTC is present, go to appropriate test.
