Camshaft Oil Clearance Inspection

- Position a plastigage on the top of the journals in the axial direction.
- Install the camshaft cap. (Refer to ENGINE DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY , CYLINDER HEAD DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY (II) , CAMSHAFT DISASSEMBLY NOTE .)
- Remove the camshaft cap. (Refer to ENGINE DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY , CYLINDER HEAD DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY (II) , CAMSHAFT DISASSEMBLY NOTE .)
- Measure the oil clearance. Replace the cylinder head as necessary.
Standard Clearance
- 0.035-0.081 mm {0.0014-0.0031 in}
Maximum Clearance
- 0.15 mm {0.006 in}
