Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Ensure FREEZE FRAME DATA has been recorded. Check for related service bulletins. Repair as necessary and go to next step.
  2. Start engine. Using scan tool, check EGR PID data. Using scan tool, perform EGR system repair verification drive mode. See DRIVE MODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If EGR PID does not change while performing drive mode, go to next step. If EGR PID changes while performing drive mode, problem is intermittent. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  3. Ensure vacuum hoses between EGR boost sensor and EGR boost solenoid valve, and between EGR boost sensor and intake manifold are connected properly. Repair as necessary and go to step  6 . If all vacuum hoses are okay, go to next step.
  4. Inspect EGR boost solenoid valve operation. See SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - MIATA, MILLENIA, MPV, PROTEGE, PROTEGE5 & 626 article. Replace EGR boost solenoid valve as necessary and go to step  6 . If EGR boost solenoid valve is okay, go to next step.
  5. Inspect EGR boost sensor operation. See SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - MIATA, MILLENIA, MPV, PROTEGE, PROTEGE5 & 626 article. Replace EGR boost sensor as necessary and go to next step. If EGR boost sensor is okay, go to next step.
  6. Reconnect all connections. Start engine. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Depress brake pedal for 14.1 or more seconds. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P1410 is present, replace PCM and go to next step. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. On vehicles equipped with immobilizer system, reprogram ignition key identification numbers. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES - IMPORT article in GENERAL INFORMATION. If DTC P1410 is not present, go to next step.
  7. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. See DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If any other DTC is present, go to appropriate test.
