DTC P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Circuit Malfunction, P0503: Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), Erratic Malfunction &/Or P1501: Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), Out Of Range: Condition

DTC P0500 is set when VSS circuit malfunctions, DTC P0503 is set when VSS has an erratic malfunction, DTC P1501 is set when VSS is out of range. DTCs are set when vehicle speed exceeds 5 MPH. Possible causes are:
- VSS malfunction.
- Signal interference from ignition system.
- Short of open circuit between VSS and PCM.
