Clutch Master Cylinder: Disassembly

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Mazda Tribute, 2001 Mazda Protege, and 2001 Mazda 626. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: On Tribute, disassembly procedures are not available from manufacturer.
  1. Remove clutch master cylinder. See CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove clutch master cylinder-to-brake master cylinder flexible hose. Press piston inward. Remove snap ring carefully, without scratching cylinder bore. See Fig 1.
  2. Remove piston and secondary cup by placing shop towel over piston and lightly applying air pressure to fluid line fitting. Remove primary cup and return spring. Remove elbow joint and bushing.
