Direct Piston Disassembly Note
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2006 Mazda MPV, 2005 Mazda MPV, 2004 Mazda MPV, 2004 Mazda 6, and 2003 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Assemble the clutch drum to the transaxle case.
- Remove the direct piston by applying compressed air through the fluid passage.
- Remove the O-ring from piston.
WARNING:
Using compressed air can cause dirt and other particles to fly out, causing injury to the eyes. Wear protective eye wear whenever using compressed air.
CAUTION:
Applying compressed air to the assembled clutch pack for longer than 3 seconds at a time will damage the seal. Do not apply compressed air for more than the aforementioned time when testing the system.
