Intake Manifold: Removal

- Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE . Drain cooling system. Disconnect negative battery cable. On Millenia, remove air intake duct, MAF sensor and air cleaner assembly. Remove water hose and throttle body assembly. Disconnect necessary control cables, electrical connections, coolant hoses, vacuum hoses and fuel lines. Remove pipe, harness, and EGR valve and pipe.
- On 626, remove fresh-air duct, air cleaner assembly, MAF sensor and air hose. Disconnect necessary control cables, electrical connections, coolant hoses, vacuum hoses and fuel lines. Remove throttle body and IAC valve. Remove fuel distributor and intake manifold.
- On all models, loosen intake manifold retaining bolts and nuts evenly using several steps. Remove intake manifold assembly and gaskets. See Figure or Figure .
- If removing fuel injectors, remove retaining bolts, fuel injector retainer, insulators, fuel injectors, fuel rail and pressure regulator. Remove fuel rail insulators (if necessary). See Figure. Fuel rail insulators are located between fuel rail and intake manifold.
CAUTION:
Ensure notch on side of fuel injector engages with notch in fuel rail.
