Removal (Millenia)

- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove timing belt. See TIMING BELT . Remove air cleaner component. Remove spark plug wires and distributor. Remove intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD . Remove retaining bolts, valve cover and gasket. Remove camshaft pulley and camshafts. See CAMSHAFT .
- Note location of Hydraulic Lash Adjusters (HLA) for reassembly reference. Remove hydraulic lash adjusters from cylinder head.
NOTE:
Store hydraulic lash adjusters in upright position submerged in clean engine oil.
