Test V: Door Ajar Indicator Inoperative (Chime Operative - DTC B1323 & B1325)

  1. Operate interior lights by opening and losing all doors and liftgate. If interior lighting system operates properly, go to next step. If interior lighting system does not operate properly, repair interior lights as necessary. See INTERIOR/ILLUMINATION LIGHTS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  2. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, perform Generic Electronic Module (GEM) self-test. If DTC B1323 or B1325 is retrieved, go to next step. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to step  5 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster 20-pin harness connector C220a. See Figure . Disconnect GEM 22-pin harness connector T201a. Measure resistance of Violet/Light Green wire between instrument cluster harness connector C220a, terminal No. 15 and GEM harness connector T201a, terminal No. 10. See Figure and Figure . Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220a, terminal No. 15 (Violet/Light Green wire). Resistance should be less than 5 ohms between instrument cluster and GEM, and 10 k/ohms or more between instrument cluster and ground. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Violet/Light Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220a, terminal No. 15 (Violet/Light Green wire). See Figure . If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Violet/Light Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  5. Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion or pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Operate system and verify if concern still exists. If concern still exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern does not exist, system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
