Test Q: Right Turn Signal Indicator Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Verify right turn signal operation. If right turn signal operates properly, go to next step. If right turn signal does not operate properly, repair right turn signal as necessary. See EXTERIOR LIGHTS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster 18-pin harness connector C220c. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Place headlight switch in right turn position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220c, terminal No. 15 (White/Light Blue wire). See Figure . If voltage fluctuates between 0-10 volts, go to next step. If voltage does not fluctuate between 0-10 volts, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect electronic flasher module 5-pin harness connector. Electronic flasher module is located behind left side of instrument panel, near Data Link Connector (DLC). Measure resistance of White/Light Blue wire between instrument cluster harness connector C220c, terminal No. 15 and electronic flasher module harness connector terminal No. 4. See Figure and Figure . Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220c, terminal No. 15 (White/Light Blue wire). Resistance should be less than 5 ohms between instrument cluster and electronic flasher module, and 10 k/ohms or more between instrument cluster and ground. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair open or short to ground in White/Light Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220c, terminal No. 1 (Black/White wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/White wire between instrument cluster and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Ground point is located behind left side of instrument panel.
  5. Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion or pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Operate system and verify if concern still exists. If concern still exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern does not exist, system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
