Test N: Anti-Lock Brake System Indicator Inoperative

- Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, select instrument cluster WARNING LAMPS AND CHIME active command. Trigger ALL LAMPS active command and observe Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) indicator. If ABS indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS indicator illuminates, go to step 4 .
- Disconnect ABS control module 25-pin harness connector C155. Disconnect instrument cluster 16-pin harness connector C220b. See Figure . Measure resistance of Black/Yellow wire between ABS control module harness connector C155, terminal No. 16 and instrument cluster harness connector C220b, terminal No. 7. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Yellow wire. SeeWIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220b, terminal No. 7 (Black/Yellow wire). See Figure . If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Black/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion or pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Operate system and verify if concern still exists. If concern still exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern does not exist, system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
