Camshaft Caps (RH) Removal Note

CAUTION:
  • Cylinder head and the camshaft bearing caps are numbered to make sure they are assembled in their original position. When removed, keep the bearing caps with the cylinder head they were removed from together. Do not mix the caps.
    CAUTION:
    • Remove the camshaft bearing thrust caps Nos. 1R and 5R first. Do not loosen any of the other bolts until the thrust caps are removed, or damage to the thrust caps may occur.
    NOTE:
    • Loosen bolts using several passes. Do not remove bolts completely.

  1. Remove the RH camshaft thrust caps 1R and 5R.
  2. NOTE:
    • Be sure not to loosen any of the other bolts until the thrust caps are removed.

  3. Loosen the remaining bolts 7-8 turns in the indicated sequence in several passes to allow the camshaft (RH) to be slowly raised.
