Oil Pressure Inspection

WARNING:

Continuous exposure with USED engine oil has caused skin cancer in laboratory mice. Protect your kin by washing with soap and water immediately after this work.
Hot engines and the engine oil can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it and the engine oil have cooled.

Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .)
Remove the A/C compressor with the pipe still connected. Position the A/C compressor so that it is out of the way.
Remove the oil pressure switch.
Screw the SSTs into the oil pressure switch installation hole.
Install the A/C compressor.
Install the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .)
Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.

NOTE:

The oil pressure can vary with oil viscosity and temperature.

Run the engine at the specified speed, inspect for the cause and repair or replace as necessary.
- If the pressure is not as specified, inspect for the cause and repair or replace as necessary.
Oil Pressure (Approximate Quantity)

138-310 kPa {1.40-3.17 kgf/cm ² , 20-45 psi} [1,500 RPM]
Stop the engine and wait until it is cool.
Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .)
Remove the A/C compressor with the pipe still connected. Position the A/C compressor so that it is out of the way.
Remove the SSTs .
Apply silicone sealant to the oil pressure switch threads as shown.

Install the oil pressure switch.
Tightening Torque

12-16 N.m {1.2-1.7 kgf.m, 9-12 ft.lbf}
Install the A/C compressor.
Install the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .)
Start the engine and inspect for oil leakage.
