Section 177 (On-Board Diagnostic [Automatic Transaxle Ja5A-El)): Foreword

When the customer reports vehicle malfunction, check the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) indication, AT warning indication, and diagnostic trouble code (DTC), then diagnose the malfunction according to following flowchart. See Fig 1.
- If a DTC exists, diagnose the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [JA5A-EL] .)
- If a DTC does not exist and the MIL and AT warning lights do not illuminate, diagnose the applicable symptom troubleshooting. (See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING ITEM TABLE [JA5A-EL] .)
