Test 7: Blower Motor Operates Continuously In High Speed
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Mazda Tribute. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower motor resistor 4-pin harness connector G293. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and blower motor resistor harness connector G293 terminal No. 3 (Orange/Black wire). See Fig 1. If more than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Orange/Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect function switch 4-pin harness connector G294a. Disconnect blower motor switch 4-pin harness connector switch G294b. Measure resistance between ground and blower motor resistor harness connector G293 terminal No. 3 (Orange/Black wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Orange/Black wire. Recheck system operation.
- Measure resistance between ground and blower motor resistor harness connector G293 terminal No. 4 (Light Green/White wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Light Green/White wire. Recheck system operation.
- Measure resistance between ground and blower motor resistor harness connector G293 terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Red wire). See Fig 1. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between blower motor switch terminals. See BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH CONTINUITY table. See Fig 2. If resistances are less than 5 ohms between specified terminals, replace blower motor resistor. Recheck system operation. If resistance(s) are 5 ohms or more, replace blower motor switch. Recheck system operation.BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH CONTINUITY
