- Start engine and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Set function selector switch to MAX A/C position. Adjust temperature control switch to MAX COOL position and note discharge air temperature. Adjust temperature control switch to MAX WARM position and note discharge air temperature. If air temperature changed from full cold to full warm, system is operating properly at this time. If air temperature did not change from full cold to full warm, go to next step.
- Inspect temperature blend door actuator control cable installation on heater core housing. Verify that cable is fully seated on shaft, correctly located on housing and in mid-position. If temperature blend door actuator control cable is fully seated, correctly located on housing and in mid-position, go to next step. If temperature blend door actuator control cable is not fully seated, correctly located on housing and/or in mid-position, correct installation of control cable and recheck system operation.
- Rotate temperature control switch from full warm to full cold while observing temperature control cable. If switch movement corresponds with movement at control cable at heater core housing, replace heater core housing due to faulty temperature blend door. If switch movement does not correspond with movement at control cable at heater core housing, go to next step.
- Inspect temperature blend door actuator control cable installation on control switch. If control cable is properly installed, go to next step. If control cable is not properly installed, reconnect cable and recheck system operation.
- Rotate temperature control switch from full warm to full cold while observing control cable. If switch movement corresponds with movement at control cable at heater core housing, replace temperature control cable. If switch movement does not correspond with movement at control cable at heater core housing, replace temperature control switch. Recheck system operation.
