On-Board Diagnostics (OBD)
The OBD test inspects the integrity and function of the air bag system and outputs the results when requested by the specific tests. OBD is usually performed at the start of each diagnostic procedure and provides a quick inspection of the air bag system. Also, OBD provides verification after repairs to ensure that not other faults occurred during service.
OBD test is divided into 3 tests: read diagnostic results, clear diagnostic results and PID/data monitor and record. The read and clear functions allows DTCs to be retrieved or cleared from SAS control module. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can be retrieved or cleared using scan tool. PID/data monitor allows access to certain data values, input signals, calculated values, and system status information.
